Description:
PocketPipes plays Great Highland Bagpipe scores with (or without) drones and embellishments. You can pause and restart the tune, change the tempo, play in loop mode ... The scores are in scottish or breton notation (Hp or Eb tonality). The files are in .abc textual format. Ability to choose between practice chanter sound or bagpipe sound.
A synced metronome is avalaible when playing the air.
The software can display the score full screen if the associated PDF file is present (display format).
The creation of score files is not possible with PocketPipes.
PocketPipes contains 6 pairs of .abc/.pdf files for demonstration purpose. Your own files will be loaded into the iPhone or iPad from Mac or PC using iTunes file sharing. A guide is available on the support URL. An important feature is the ability to categorize the tunes because it is uneasy to work with a large number of scores sorted in alphabetic order. The categories permit to work on subsets: i.e. Next Show, To learn, Marches ....
The preferred source to produce these files is the free software Bagpipe (link provided on the support website for PocketPipes, and inside the app).
PocketPipes also offers a small 9-keys keypad to "tap" the air, without ornamentation. The learning feature helps to play the notes of the selected air indicating the next note to play. This keyboard has a role of entertainment and in no way resembles the practice of the real instrument.
A simple independent metronome extends learning capabilities.
What's New
- This release offers a better compliance with the .abc standard. So, PocketPipes can read files not only coming from Bagpipe, but also from other musical .abc editors. However, Bagpipe will remain the recommended software to produce your personal files. No need to change existing files. This extended compliance applies to:
> Repeats ([1 and [2 or |1 and |2)
> L:1/x command for x=4,8,16
> Q:1/x=yyy command for x = 2,4,8,16 and yyy is the tempo value
- Tempo adjustment is made persistent for each tune played. When you go back on a tune, the previous adjustment (if any) is recalled. When adjusted, the modified values appear in yellow color on the player tab.
- The reference note for tempo is displayed on the Player Tab, and not only the value, as previously.
- A new button allows to rate the app on the AppleStore from the Useful Links in the Help screens. Hope faithful users will give more feed backs.
